'No Sir, Nihilism is not Practical" / Showbread
I will try to describe this CD without gushing too much. If you can get past the screaming (which was hard for me to do) you are in for a treat. Not since Skillet's self titled debut in '98 has a Cd this musically experimental and lyrically abstract been this good. Musically the guitar riffs in are amazing, the drum beats are spectacular and the bass cords are thumping. The only place I feel showbread falls short is vocals. While they are very good when they actually sing, the singing moments are few and far between. Most of the vocals are unintelligible screams (even I had to resort to the cover for the lyrics). But I am glad I did read the lyrics. Check them out whenever you get a chance. The best song on this CD is the praise song "Matthias Replaces Judas". This song as abstract in nature as it is beautiful. You can either look at it as a ballad about two figures in the Bible or as a song about all of us. We have all denied or betrayed Jesus just as Judas did (we may have not done it intentionally but we have done it) and when we accepted Christ as our Savior we have killed the old man (Judas) and replaced him with a new man (Matthias) you get the point?
"Mouth like a Magazine" Gossip anyone? "The Missing Wife" ,,_ ; A Man is preparing the wedding ceremony, now all He needs is His Bride, the Church.
